june in amsterdam. on our way to the hip ijburg beach. ’cause it is summer, can’t you read the calendar? all i’m saying is: give me some sun. anyway, ijburg. a new part of town, like we dutch once sucked up a whole sea to built new cities. ijburg is being stuffed with the -in my opinion- typical second half of the 90′s architecture. typical elements of this type of design is the squareness of it all, with multilevelled top floors in one block. red dark brick. little bit like the flatiron-parody on potsdamer platz in berlin. i like it a lot but keep wondering how long before it get’s boring? and what are we going to do then? there’s so much of it by then… (it gives kind of an awkward feeling walking on construction sites btw) (kp)
