i pictured a local entrepeneur gleaming with pride in front of his newly lettered storefront. he must have discussed his plan with his wife. what will trigger my potential clientele? what is my food usp? what about take away meals… etc. so he finds him a letterman to do his window. and not much later i picture it for this little piece of malicious delight.
my plan was to write something punchy on being offered a choice of where to go in life. tao style. hail the chance of having a way in life instead of the abandoned sounding “away”. just before i got carried away reality bit me. almost all foreign food restaurants offer their goods to go in the new hyphenless style. the only noteworthy thing may be that the trend crossed-over from indian & chinese food places to the old continent kitchen. but we already know the asians take-over, right? now darling, the charm with which some non-native speakers err in their command of the english language is a source of infinite cuteness… this is a prime example… i am in oklahoma today where there is really no excuse for the wealth of typos and fuckups that cross my eye from yellowy marquis on any given ride through town…
so, which way will you be taking today, sir?
