i’m looking for a plug-in that will make my life complete: a wikipedia toolbar. not to edit content (as offered with this one) but one like googles searchbar. what i thought was going to be a 30 second task has lead to a few short amazements.
first of all: there doesn’t seem to be such a thing as a wiki toolbar! there is this power search toolbar, but it involves switching destinations before submitting a query. not very user-friendly in my opinion. i want two separate bars.
second: wikipedia itself has a whole page on toolbars. did you the first one was introduced in 1973? so it’s almost(?) older than the pc it is running on? the page also lists “prominent third party web browser toolbars” but no word of a wiki one.
third: looking for a screendump to go with this article i was almost mislead by the url google presented: andrewsexceltips.com/Images/Face%20IDs. i guess it was the combination of face, images and the quickscanning of the domain name that got me confused? (he also has a page with ff-shortcuts… i dunno) anyway, that’s where i found this pic. thanks andrew. (kp)

edit 2008-01-05: it is easier than i thought. together with the googlebar lite plugin i activated the firefox searchbar and switched that one to wiki. easy.
